As you begin your search for quality window coverings for your home, many first time home buyers (and even veteran homeowners) want to know the answer to one simple question:
What is the difference between Blinds and Shades? Is there one?
Believe it or not, they’re not the same!
Let’s start with Blinds.
Blinds typically have slats, which the professionals call louvers, which help to both control light and keep out unwanted eyes.
Sometimes shutters can be confused with blinds due to their shared features (they both have slats) but shutters are a whole different animal!

Now let’s move on to Shades.
A shade is generally ONE piece of material (as opposed to blinds, which are composed of a series of slats) that raises and lowers with ease.
Although the slat feature of blinds has historically been the preferred choice for those that enjoy having maximum control of light, the top/down bottom up shades offered by Shades Shutters Blinds continue to increase in popularity. This unique variety of shade allows you to retain your privacy while still letting light into the room by lowering only the top part of the shade.
